The short version
Reelkit is free. What you make is yours, and your project, your own files and the finished video stay on your machine.
Text, prompts and a video that you send for processing are used to do that job, to keep the result for you and to show it to you. What goes to the shared library can be reused by every Reelkit user, for good.
Use the service lawfully and within its quotas. It comes as it is, with no warranty.
What Reelkit is
Reelkit is a command-line tool (reelkit, the npm package reelkit-cli), a skill for coding agents, and a shared library of assets for short videos. The tool and the skill run on your machine. Some commands call the Reelkit server at reelkit.cc: recording narration, generating an image or a clip, removing a background, and searching, pulling from or sharing to the library.
Reelkit is free. There is nothing to pay and no card to enter.
The command-line tool is open source under the MIT licence. That licence covers the tool's code. These terms cover the server, this website and the shared library.
Reelkit is built and run by Unit 01, a software studio in Israel. In these terms "we" means Unit 01.
By opening an account or using the service you accept these terms and the privacy policy. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.
Your account
The commands that call the server need an account. Browsing the library on this site does not.
You sign in on this site with a link sent to your email address. An account is for one person: use an email address that is yours.
reelkit auth login connects a machine to your account by saving a token in a file on that machine. Anyone who holds the token can use your account and your monthly quota, so keep it private. reelkit auth logout on that machine revokes its token and removes the file.
You are responsible for what is done through your account. If you think a token has leaked, write to us.
You must be at least 16 years old to use Reelkit.
Your content stays yours
Your project, your plan, your screenshots, logo and footage, and the video you render are yours. Rendering happens on your machine, and we never receive the finished video.
Some commands send content to the server: the narration text, the prompt for an image or a clip, the words of a library search, and a video that you send for background removal with --cutout.
You keep all your rights in that content. You give us only the permission needed to do what you asked: to process it, to pass it to the services that do the processing, to keep the result in your private files and to show it to you. The privacy policy lists what is sent and where it goes.
Between you and us, what is generated for you (voiceovers, images, clips and cutouts) is yours to use. The section on generated content says what we cannot promise about it.
The shared library and its licence
The shared library is the one place where what you send stops being private. Content reaches it in two ways:
- A file you share yourself, by adding
--sharetoreelkit assets uploador toreelkit assets gen clip. - A generated illustration that your plan marks as generic.
For such an illustration, reelkit assets gen image sends the image to the library, with no --share flag, when all of these hold:
- the scene in
plan.jsonhasshareableset to true - the project has no footage
- the scene uses none of your own files
- you did not give the command a prompt of your own
To keep an illustration private, set shareable to false for that scene before you generate it.
A shared item does not become public at once. It waits for review: an automated check, our own review, or both. We may decline an item, or remove one later, for any reason.
The title, description and tags of a published item are public with it. For a generated illustration or clip the description is the prompt, so put nothing private in the prompt of a scene that can be shared.
When an item of yours goes to the library, you confirm that you have the right to share it, and you grant every Reelkit user a worldwide, free, non-exclusive, perpetual licence to use it, change it and include it in their own videos, including commercial ones, without crediting you. You grant us the same licence, and the right to store, show and distribute the item as part of the library. You keep your own rights and can go on using the item as you like.
Never share:
- other people's copyrighted material
- logos or trademarks that you do not own
- a person's face, voice or likeness without their consent
- personal data, yours or anyone else's
- anything unlawful
You can ask us to remove an item you shared: write to us. Removal stops future pulls. It cannot recall copies that other people have already pulled, and their licence for those copies continues.
Using items from the library
You may use library items in your own videos, including commercial ones, and change them to fit.
You may not resell or redistribute the library or its items as a collection of assets, or use them to build a competing library.
Items come from other users and from us, and are provided as they are. We do not promise that an item is free of other people's rights or that it suits your use.
Some items that we brought in from open collections, such as sound effects, overlays and music, name a licence of their own in their details. Where an item names one, that licence applies to it.
Components are code that runs on your machine when you preview or render. Users cannot upload components: they are added to the library only by us.
If you believe an item in the library infringes your rights, write to us and we will look at it.
Generated content
You are responsible for what you ask the models to make, and for the videos you publish.
Voiceovers, images and clips are made by other companies' models, named in the privacy policy. Their terms and content rules apply to what you send, and they can refuse a request.
We do not promise that generated material is unique, accurate or free of other people's rights. Check it before you publish.
A reference video is yours to choose and yours to answer for. reelkit ref download fetches a link on your machine with yt-dlp. You need the right to download and use that video, and the site it comes from may forbid downloading.
Reelkit uses a reference only to measure how it is built. Its footage, its music and its words do not go into your video, and you must not put them there unless you have the right to.
Fair use, quotas and changes to the service
Use Reelkit lawfully. Do not use it to make or share content that is unlawful or that infringes someone's rights. Do not try to get around the quotas, to reach other people's files or to disrupt the service.
The free service has monthly quotas for narration, images, clips, background removal and transcription, a daily limit on shared uploads, and limits on how fast some requests can be made. Your account page shows what you have used. The quotas can change.
We may suspend or close an account that abuses the service or shares unlawful content.
Reelkit is a free service, and we may change it, limit it or stop it. If it stops, the tool on your machine and the files in your projects stay with you.
No warranty, limited liability
The service is provided as it is and as available. As far as the law allows, we give no warranty of any kind: not that the service will be available, not that it is free of errors, and not that what it produces suits your purpose.
As far as the law allows, Unit 01 is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profit or lost data, or for content that users make or share. Keep your own copies of anything you care about: files on our server can be lost.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms. The date at the top is the date of this version, and a material change will be announced on this site before it applies. If you keep using the service after that, you accept the new terms.
These terms are governed by the law of Israel. Disputes will be heard by the competent courts in Tel Aviv-Jaffa.
